January 2025
Announcements
It’s Membership Renewal Time
Renewal forms have been emailed out to just those WSC members whose membership expired December 31st. Some of you, especially those folks who signed up at the gun show or after October, are good for 2025. If you need a renewal form it print out the last page of this newsletter. And thank you to those of you who have already paid up. NOTE – All membership renewals are due by January 31, 2025.
Regardless of what month you joined the WSC, all membership renewals are due January as they are set for renewal based on the calendar year. With the work of our tireless membership
Chairman and web site developer, we hope to implement a “time from renewing” membership
term next year. This will help spread out the memberships throughout the year.
As an option to mailing your renewal payment, just bring the renewal form and check or cash to the Range and give it to the on duty RSO (Remember our winter range hours are 10 AM to 2 PM). Need a renewal form? Go to “Membership” on the WSC website to download one, or just pick one up at the range and do it there.
Is there a “Senior family” membership? Actually no, but if you and your spouse are ‘seniors’ (60+) with no children under 18, here’s the fix – just sign yourself and your spouse up as ‘senior’ members at $20 each to save the $10. Use a single membership renewal form but please make sure you fill in both names and contact info and make a note of this dual senior membership request for us to see. Questions? Please email us at wscazrange01@gmail.com Tim Topell, your WSC Membership Chairman, is our version of the lonely Maytag Repairman – just waiting to hear from someone!
Practical Firearms Course – New Fun Shooting Opportunity
The next shoot will be Saturday February 8th from 10Am – 2 pm (Usually the second Saturday monthly). This fun shooting course is an expansion of the prior Practical Pistol Challenge. Besides pistols and pistol caliber carbines, regular carbines are now also permitted but limited to .223, 6mm ARC, .30 carbine and such. No 7.62X39mm, .300 Blackout, .30-30, etc. as the targets can’t handle those larger bullet weights and velocities. Think of this as the adult version of a kids carnval gallery shoot.

RSOs Dale Vicari and Bill Cannon run it and everyone whose tried it has had a good time.
Any questions just shoot us an email.
Next shoot – Saturday February 8th from 10Am – 2 pm
Help Wanted at the Range – That means you! Yes, You, YOU, YOU!

Our club is getting popular and as a result our Range Safety Officers would certainly welcome a helping hand. While the RSOs would remain in charge of the firing line and those sorts of responsibilities what our RSOs could really use are members who would be willing to come out and help with these other types of duties –
- Helping the RSO open and set up.
- Helping folks sign in.
- Handing them the Safety Rules sheet to read.
- Assisting new folks in filling out a membership form properly.
- Help collecting dues.
- Assisting “One Day Shooters” fill out the form and collecting the $5 donation.
- Showing folks the target locker and helping with paper targets.
- Helping the RSO by watching the folks behind the line to keep things safe.
- Being the RSO’s second set of eyes – You see something – Say something!
- Help the RSO tally the end of day entries (The job isn’t done until the paperwork is in!) and then shut down and close the Range.
Now how would you do this? You could shoot us a quick email at wscazrange01@gmail.com let us know which day you’re coming out. Or, even if at the last minute you decide ‘what the heck,’ you can just show up too. The RSO is at the range about an hour early as there is ‘stuff to do’ to get the place set up. We’ll get you a snappy orange vest to wear (but sorry no red hat), a quick introduction, and we will keep it simple for you.
PLEASE give this serious consideration as YOUR RSOs would really appreciate the help. You can even look at the range calendar on the WSC website and pick your favorite RSO! Bring water, sunscreen, a light pair of gloves, and a hat. Dress appropriately. Have a question? Shoot us an email. We’re all volunteers and we could sure use more help!
Do you have a Gmail account? Then we need your Input! Please Goggle Williams Sportsman’s Club and on the right it will show “Williams Sportsman’s Club” and a picture of our range with a shooting bench. Scroll down and click on the “Write a Review” box. Obviously a nice comment would be appreciated but the reason for the request is that it will help with our search engine results and mapping.

How can it be this cold and blustery for this long with absolutely no snow?
Yesterday I bought a world map, gave my wife a dart, and said, “Throw this and wherever it lands I will take you on vacation.” We’re looking at spending 3 weeks behind the fridge.
“Snap Shot” – For you animal lovers…

The scope is a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8 that has a reticle unique for the 308 cartridge.
