“On Target!”
March 2026
April 1st Range Hours Change to 9 AM – 1 PM
No fooling! Now that spring is in the air we will shift our range schedule one hour earlier.
Range permit renewal status
The permit renewal process is still in flux. The USFS has assigned a new planner to complete this process – the third so far this has been handed off to. We are awaiting the City and USFS to re-engage. It is unknown how the impending retirement of Williams City Manager Pettit will impact progress.
WSC Board Planning Session set for May 2nd
The purpose, like previous planning sessions, permits board members to review the activities and events from last year and set goals and objectives for 2026. Any recommendations requiring formal approvals will be set for open board discussion at the May 13th meeting.

Tactical / Practical Tips

Keith Heimes, in one of his WSC President’s messages, had some sage advice. While you may or may not have decided yet if you want to try running the Tactical Firearms Challenge, Keith did point out some very valid points on why you need to come to range on a routine basis regardless. Here are some of the hints he dropped –
Many WSC members carry a self-defense weapon.
It’s doubtful that many of those members actually practice any realistic, scenario based pistol practice.
While no one expects to find themselves in a situation in which their lives are threatened you have an obligation to practice if you carry!
You don’t expect to crash your car everyday but you dutifully wear a seatbelt, the car has air bags, and you insure it! So get out to the range and practice – and bring your spouse!
Recruit a Member
All WSC members are encouraged to spread the good word about all the shooting sports activities and the improvements made to our range facility. You are free to forward our monthly newsletters to those like-minded individuals who are not yet members.

The Grump – “Here’s my opinion – ought to be yours!”

I was lonely until I glued a coffee cup to the roof of my car. Now everyone waves at me!
I used to be able to do cartwheels. Now I tip over putting on my underwear.
How much of an allowance did you get as a teenager per week? Me? Well, I was allowed to live there.
