We Need More Range Safety Officers!
The WSC is your club and it takes everyone’s participation in one manner or another to make the club fully successful. In the month of April three RSOs had to work double shifts due to staffing shortages. We have over 500 club members but only 20 or so RSOs to staff the range.
Without RSO’s the range cannot operate so seriously consider stepping up to the plate and joining the team. Do your part and volunteer for a 4 hour range duty commitment once a month – plus you schedule it for the day that’s convenient for you. Plan on making it a point the next time you are at the range to ask the RSO for information and about the extra benefits and shooting opportunities that just the RSO’s are authorized. Gee, just think about it – you’ll volunteer to spend a day at the range. Wait a minute, so you’re thinking of making a commitment, an obligation, forcing yourself, to do what? To spend a DAY AT THE RANGE?!?!
You’ll attend a one day of training by our NRA Certified Chief RSO and you too will become an NRA Certified RSO. After your training you will be partnered up with an RSO to work the range over a few months as a team. This will give you time to become acquainted e with the flow of things, how we operate, and get comfortable. And it will be up to you to say when you are ready to go out on your own. The NRA certification is a requirement by the USFS for us to operate.
Wanted –
Our in-house workshop is in need of the following items to build fun target items –
Bicycle Parts – Rear sprockets, a front sprocket, and a derailleur. If you have an entire bike you just don’t use anymore, sitting in the garage all dusty with flat tires, that would absolutely work too!
Steel Drum – 30 to 55 gallon, rusty, dented, all OK. Drop it off at the conex please.
Metal parts & pieces – to build or repair target frames.
Board Meetings
WSC Board and General Meetings are held the second Wednesday evening every month starting at 6 PM at the Ramada Inn meeting room, 950 N Grand Canyon Blvd. All WSC members and the public are welcome to attend. For full details please read the minutes which can be found on the WSC website. Our next Board meeting will be Wednesday May 13th.
Recruit a Member
All WSC members are encouraged to spread the good word about all the shooting sports activities and the improvements made to our range facility. You are free to forward our monthly newsletters to those like-minded individuals who are not yet members.
Please Join our WSC FaceBook group!
It’s a great way for us – the WSC – to put out our news about the range and all our upcoming fun events and happenings! We have just a few followers so we need everyone’s help.

Hey Doc!

The Grump – “Here’s my opinion – ought to be yours!”

The longest drum solo was 10 hours and 26 minutes long and was performed by the child sitting behind me on Delta flight 963 from LA to Tokyo.
You know how they throw the ball into the crowd after they win the game? That’s not allowed in bowling. I know that now.
Have you ever listened to someone for a while and then wondered…..“Who ties your shoelaces for you in the morning?”

Springfield Armory Saint 5.56mm / .223 pistol with brace $1,300

Not an NFA item. Has a LAW Tactical folder (not a knock-off), Aimpoint PRO red dot, and a Franklin Armory binary trigger. It’s also got a Magpul sling and a Surefire light. For WSC members will also include a new-in-the-box Magpul drum magazine and the bag I’ve carried this in. I’ve only put about 100 rounds through this, without issue. Mostly, it was carried as a non-descript “long gun”.
